Specialist Foster Care

Specialist Foster Carer’s provide placements to children in the care of Tusla, who have behavioral issues and complex needs, who are at risk of being placed in residential care. These children may already be placed in a residential setting but would benefit from a supportive, stable family placement with foster carer’s who have experience of working with children with challenging behaviours. Parent and Child Placements

Could you provide support, guidance and a safe environment for looked after young people who are pregnant or have a baby? Parent and child placements involve foster carers supporting young mothers and/ or fathers to develop their parenting skills. We provide additional training for foster carers who offer this type of placement.

Parenting Assessments

Some of our more experienced foster carers have undertaken specialist training to enable them to provide parenting assessments. These are highly structured, closely monitored placements that involve the foster carer working as part of a professional team to formally assess and provide a detailed report of a young person’s parenting ability.

Disability Placements

There are many disabled children and young people in Ireland who need a fostering family. This can include children with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, sensory impairments or a combination of these.

We maintain an ongoing commitment to ensure that all of our placements are matched to ensure the best fit between the foster carer and the needs of the child or young person in our care.

Placements for Separated Children Seeking Asylum

This involves caring for children and young people who have been separated from their families and are seeking sanctuary or asylum in Ireland.

These children and young people have often travelled a long way (from countries such as Africa, Afghanistan and Iran), speak little English and can be frightened and confused. We’re always looking to recruit carers who can meet the cultural and religious needs of these young people and we offer specific training to help our carers provide these children with a safe environment.
