Will Fostering Affect My Family?

At FFI, we believe that your children have an important part to play in the success of a fostering placement. In fact, they can really help a foster child to settle in and feel at home.

That’s why we offer them the support and reassurance they need to ensure their experience of fostering is a happy and positive one.

Your social worker will meet with your children to discuss their thoughts and feelings. We celebrate their achievements too and encourage them to participate in the wealth of events and activities we organise for foster carers and their families throughout the year.

Supporting children and young people who foster

As well as support and guidance for children and young people who foster, we also offer:

  • Easy access to the family’s link social worker for birth children and young people
  • Opportunities to attend support groups with other young people in the area who are also part of a fostering family, offering them the chance to talk and share their experiences
  • Paid respite provision to all our foster families, to give you and your birth children the opportunity to spend quality time together
