Want To Foster?

Teenage girls

Can I foster?

When it comes to fostering, we value diversity and believe that it’s your personal qualities that count.

You don’t need to be married to foster. Or in a couple. Or straight. You don’t even have to own your home.

In fact, our carers come from all sorts of backgrounds. However, there are a few things you’ll need to foster with us:

  • You must be over the age of 25
  • You need a spare bedroom
  • You need a full driving licence
  • You have to be available to commit to fostering on a full time basis (however there are exceptions to this; so please speak to us to find out more)
  • If you’re fostering as a couple, you’ll need to have been together for at least five years
  • If you have children, your youngest child must be at least three years old when you start to foster

Is it for me?

Becoming a foster carer is a big decision and there are a number of things you need to know before deciding whether it’s right for you. This includes thinking about the impact that it will have on your own children and family.

Don’t worry if you don’t think you have all the skills you need right now – you’ll develop these along the way with the comprehensive training programme that we provide for all our foster carers.
