Parenting Assessment Placements
FFI can provide Parenting Assessments placements with foster carers who have undertaken specific and specialised training. These placements aim to provide comprehensive evidence-based parenting skills assessments. These assessments can assist the Health Services Executive (HSE) and the courts in making decisions around planning for children.
These placements take place in the foster carers own home for a minimum period of 12 weeks. This offers the benefit of providing a more natural living environment for the assessment than can be provided by a residential facility. A domestic setting can also reduce feelings of isolation and stress for both the parent and child.
Parenting Assessment placements are structured and closely monitored and supported by FFI’s multi-disciplinary team. Following the completion of the 12 weeks assessment period a comprehensive report is produced by the foster carer and their Link Social Worker which can be used to inform future decisions and care planning.
