Garda Vetting

FFI aims to ensure that the people it recruits and deploys in providing fostering (and related) services to children are carefully assessed for this task. In this context, FFI is a Registered Organisation with the Garda Central Vetting Unit (GCVU) and makes extensive use of its Vetting Service. This service facilitates access to information about individuals' criminal convictions and/or prosecutions, sucessful or not, pending or completed in Ireland or in some cases, elsewhere, any or all of which may be relevant to FFI's decision making about the appointment or deployment of staff and foster carers. Obtaining and assessing such information is one component of FFI's approach to safe recruitment and monitoring of staff and foster carers.
