Our relationship with the HSE

Fostering First Ireland (FFI) enjoys a positive relationship with the Health Service Executive in Ireland.

We aim to achieve positive outcomes for our foster children, our foster families and ultimately for the Local Health Offices we work in partnership with.

How it works

Non-statutory fostering agencies, such as Fostering First Ireland, provide a specialist fostering service to the HSE Local Health Offices, who we work in partnership with. We have our own Foster Carers, Social Workers, Therapists and Education staff who work to a high standard and without delay.

Why choose Fostering First Ireland?

The Health Service Executive chooses to place children and young people with FFI foster carers because of the following factors:

  • We strive to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people

  • We provide a wide range of fostering placements to meet the specific needs of the HSE, including placements for Separated Children Seeking Asylum (SCSA)

  • Through an ongoing recruitment drive, we are addressing the shortage of foster carers across Ireland – offering more opportunities to place children and young people into fostering families as opposed to residential homes

Applying to become a foster carer

Fostering First Ireland recruits foster carers in order to provide placements for the HSE. Our application process is geared to be as smooth and efficient as possible.

It must be noted by all applicants that FFI will assess and appoint foster carers, who then require HSE approval before we can begin a placement.
