FFI Approach

Fostering First Ireland (FFI) was established in 2005 with a clear vision: to meet the increased demand for high quality foster care provision in Ireland.

We aim to shape a better future for the children and young people who find themselves in Ireland’s care system.

FFI partners the Health Service Executive to deliver quality foster care placements. We position foster carer support as central to achieving our goals.

We also acknowledge the need for some fundamental practices to be encompassed throughout all aspects of our fostering service delivery:

  • We care for our foster carers; they are the lifeblood of our organisation and perform a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for children in fostering environments

  • We train our foster carers; encouraging and promoting professionalism and higher status of foster carers in Ireland

  • We support our foster carers; not just with comprehensive and ongoing round-the-clock foster carer support, but by providing an extended range of support professionals – aimed at addressing a child or young person’s holistic and therapeutic needs

Furthermore, FFI offers placements for all types of children and young people – we believe that every child deserves a chance and the opportunity for a brighter future.

Advancements at FFI

Following 5 years of sustained growth, FFI now has over 80 children and young people placed with over 75 fostering families.

Each placement benefits from our extended range of services; applying the Team Parenting™ model at its fullest to deliver outstanding outcomes for children and young people in care.

Developments for the future

Moving forwards, we have a clear vision about broadening our services to benefit an increased number of children and young people in the Irish care system.

We look forward to expanding our service across the Ireland, extending our service provisioning and developing mutually advantageous partnerships with the HSE, as well as strengthening our relationship with existing partners for continued and improved service provision.

What’s more, we maintain an ongoing desire to recruit foster carers throughout Ireland. We therefore encourage all interested parties to get in touch today – it could make all the difference to somebody’s life, not least your own.
