Corporate Governance

The Core Assets Group of Companies is owned by its founders, Jim Cockburn and Jan Rees. Both Jim and Jan remain involved with the running of the organisation, with Jim appointed as the Executive Chairman and Jan as a Non-Executive Director.

The Core Assets Group of Companies is a combination of 'for profit' and 'not for profit' legal entities. Price Waterhouse Cooper is the Group's global Auditor and all accounts are published.

Besides Jim and Jan, the work of The Core Assets Group of Companies is managed by a board of directors, consisting of five executive directors and two non-executive directors, one of whom is wholly independent.

In 2005, The Core Assets Group of Companies was the first UK Independent Fostering Provider (IFP) to establish an operation outside the UK by trading in the Republic of Ireland under the Fostering First brand. In 2009, Fostering First International Limited was incorporated into The Core Assets Group of Companies, to develop and establish operations in Australia, New Zealand, Mainland Europe and Canada. International operations are headed up by Chief Executive, Estella Abraham.

Each company outside of the UK consists of both a board of directors and an Advisory Group. Some members will be resident nationals and some will be experienced UK personel.

In addition, each company also has a fostering panel that meets to consider all carer applicants and assess their overall suitability. In doing so, The Core Assets Group of Companies ensures sound governance and high professional standards.
