Social Work Service
FFI’s Social Work Service provides advice, guidance and support for every aspect of fostering.
To clarify: All children and young people placed with an FFI foster carer benefit from their own Social Worker from the HSE. These Social Workers will keep in touch with them throughout their placement, make statutory visits, and make care planning decisions with and for them.
However, in addition to the child’s HSE Social Worker, every FFI foster carer has his/her own Link Social Worker to ensure that they are fully supported.
Link Social Workers
Your Link Social Worker will:
- Keep in frequent touch with you, your family and children or young people in placement through visits at least once a month and regular telephone calls
- Arrange for any additional support services needed such as access to the Children & Young Peoples’ Support Service or respite care
- Support you in report writing and liaising with birth parents and the HSE
- Identify foster carer training needs and help you to achieve your learning and development objectives
- Keep careful records of the progress of children placed with you
